IBI reduction: how it works in practice
The IBI (Impuesto sobre Bienes Inmuebles) is Spain's annual property tax, and most municipalities in Alicante province offer a reduction of 30–50% for properties with solar installations. In Teulada-Moraira, the current reduction is 50% for 5 years. In Jávea, it's 50% for 3 years. Calpe and Benissa offer similar programmes. For a typical villa with an IBI bill of €800–€1,500 per year, this means savings of €1,200–€3,750 over the incentive period. To qualify, you need a legally registered installation with the corresponding certificado de instalación eléctrica (CIE). We handle the entire application process — from obtaining the CIE to submitting the bonificación request at your local Ayuntamiento.
IRPF income tax deduction for solar panels
Spanish residents can deduct 20–60% of the cost of a solar installation from their personal income tax (IRPF) under the energy efficiency improvement scheme established by Royal Decree-Law 19/2021. The deduction percentage depends on the improvement in your property's energy certificate: 20% for a one-letter improvement (up to €5,000 deduction base), 40% for a two-letter improvement (up to €7,500), and 60% if you achieve an A or B rating (up to €15,000 deduction base). For most villas, adding solar panels and a battery typically achieves a two-letter improvement, qualifying for the 40% deduction. This means a €12,000 installation could yield a €4,800 tax deduction. We provide all necessary documentation including the before-and-after energy certificates.
NextGen EU and Valencian Community grants
The European Union's NextGen recovery fund has allocated significant resources to renewable energy in Spain, administered through the IDAE and the regional government of the Comunitat Valenciana. Grants cover part of the cost of solar panels and battery storage for residential installations. Typical grants range from €600 per kWp of solar capacity plus €490 per kWh of battery storage. For a 10 kWp system with a 10 kWh battery, this could mean €10,900 in grants — a substantial reduction in your total investment. We actively monitor all open funding rounds, prepare the technical documentation, and submit applications on your behalf. Grant availability changes frequently, so we recommend requesting your free estimate now to take advantage of current programmes.
